I had mentioned in a previous blog that I had recently featured in U-Magazine’s Autumn/Winter’15 Look book which was in the September 2015 issue of the magazine.  This was such an exciting opportunity for me as you can imagine to feature in one of Ireland nationwide fashion magazines.  For the lookbook I choose my top fashion investments for the Autumn/Winter season and featured alongside top Irish fashion bloggers such as Ciara O’Doherty, Nuala Gorham of ‘Penny and Polariods’ and Rebecca O’ Byrne of ‘Haute So Fabulous’.  Each of us had an entire page to ourselves!  If you missed it you can catch up on this blog here. I was so honoured to be asked to take part in such a fantastic nationwide magazine. This was not my first time to feature in this amazing magazine.  During the summer months I was invited by U-Magazine to feature in ‘The Fashion Diary’.

Today I thought I would share this exciting experience with you.

The Fashion Diary…

For those who do not know the fashion diary is a two page spread in Irish fashion magazine U-Magazine where they ask stylists, bloggers and fashion lovers to choose and style TEN looks which they feel represent their own personal style.  I was asked to style outfits that I would wear to different occasions such as  a night out with friends, a casual day time look or a work wear look.  I have to say I absolutely LOVED choosing and styling the outfits.  This was by far my favourite part of the entire experience.  After I had styled each look I had to write up a very short description explaining my outfit, what occasion I wore it to and where my outfit was from.

I would describe my style as quite versatile.  I appreciate when people like to stick to a certain ‘look’ or ‘style’, but for me I like to mix it up and have fun with fashion so I choose to wear garments and accessories which represent my personality and make me feel good.  You can read more about my style and check out my LOOK- BOOKS here.

 The photoshoot…

I met with Dublin based photographer Sarah Orr who freelances for U-Magazine, in Dublin one Saturday around 1pm.  One of my friends Danielle, who is from Donegal but works in Dublin was away home to Donegal for the weekend so she very kindly offered me the use of her apartment to change and to get ready for the photo-shoot.  Two of my close friends, Sinead and Elaine, came along to help me on the day too and made it such a fun filled day for me.  I had two full suitcases of clothes, accessores and shoes to bring with me from Sligo to Dublin on the train so having the two girls on hand to help me change and to help with makeup and hair was fantastic.  They had me in stitches as I tried to keep a serious face and awkwardly pose for the photos!! The photographs were taken on the streets in the surrounding area not far from Danielle’s apartment so thankfully I didn’t have too far to walk in my heels between shoots! Phew! We were so lucky that the sun was shining for us and it was a beautiful summers day.

I found the photographer Sarah absolutely fantastic to work with.  She was really creative and professional and we just really clicked from the minute we met.  I was a little nervous previous to the shoot but Sara’s calm, easy going nature helped ease any worries or nerves I had.  And of course, Sinead and Elaine always kept the laughs coming!  Elaine even arrived with a supply of bottled water, sweets and treats to keep us going! Always prepared!! My friends always comment that I am very fast at getting ready and it was no different on this occasion.  I changed into each outfit as quickly as I could as I didn’t want to keep Sarah waiting and headed back outside as quickly as possible for the rest of the photos!  Sarah was very patient and I could tell she loved fashion and her job.

Below I show you the ten looks that featured in the magazine.
