Our Wedding Invitations by Eventful, Ramelton, Co.Donegal

Our Wedding Invitations by Eventful

Happy New Year everyone!

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas whatever you got up to.  I am back with my first blog of 2018! Christmas was an extra special time for us this year and now it’s back to work and reality for me this week with a BANG!!!  As you know, Rory and I got married on Saturday 23rd of December in my home town village of Ramelton in Co.DonegalWe then had dinner and dancing in the fabulous venue that is Rathmullan House , which is a beautiful family run Georgian style hotel with Rathmullan beach as it’s backdrop. We had such an amazing wedding day filled with so much love, laughter and fun, surrounded by all of our favourite people.  I won’t go into too much detail about our wedding here today, but when I have more time I do intend on sharing more detail’s, with the hope that it will help anyone who is planning a wedding and possibly give them some tips and ideas. Today,  I want to go right back to the start and talk about our wedding invitation’s.

I mentioned previously on my social media sites that I would share our wedding invitation design’s by Eventful with you as soon as all of our of our guest’s had received them and we got all of our RSVP’s back. I had intended to share them sooner but the lead up to the wedding was a very busy time and I really did not have a spare minute!  A lot of newly engaged ladies had messaged and emailed me asking where we got our invitation’s made and asking who I would recommend for wedding stationary.

So with this in mind, in today’s blog I wanted to show you our wedding invitations and ceremony leaflets, discuss the idea behind them and tell you all about the wonderful wedding professionals that brought my deigns to life – Eventful.

‘Eventful’ is a family run business based in my home town of Ramelton,  in Co.Donegal. They offer an extensive personalized service and I love how all of their designs are handcrafted in their beautiful showroom in Ramelton, using only the finest high quality material’s. If you have an idea, Roy and Claire can bring it to life for you. If you are planning a wedding and you are looking for someone super talented to design and make your wedding invitation’s or wedding stationary I highly recommend Roy and Claire from Eventful. Check out their website EVENTFUL HERE to view a selection of their work.

Just this week Roy and Claire got the very exciting news that they are in fact finalists in the Irish wedding awards 2018.  They were delighted and honored to have won Stationery Supplier of the Year last year at the Irish Wedding Awards 2017. They commented that ” it’s incredibly important to us to provide the best quality wedding stationery to our couples and to have that recognized within the industry makes it even more special!”   Let’s hope they can do it again this year.  I have every faith that they will. If anyone deserves this it is the fabulous, creative duo that is Roy and Claire.

Being an art teacher and a creative person, I had always thought that I would make my own wedding invite’s when the day came.  I have made wedding invite’s in the past for friends and family members.  I am honestly SO happy that I left it up to the professionals this time. There is just no way that I could have managed to create such a beautifully detailed handcrafted wedding invite myself to the standard that ‘Eventful’ did for us. We are delighted with how the final design has turned out.

Below, I share a very rough draft ( pen doodles!) design that I sent to Clare & Roy in the early stages of emailing them to explain the idea I had in mind for our wedding invitations. I wanted to keep our invites as simple as possible but I also wanted them to be creative and eye catching. We had some lovely photographs which Darek Novak a talented photographer from Sligo had taken of us from an engagement photo-shoot which we had won last year so I knew I wanted to incorporate of of those photo’s in some way into the invitation design.  I am obviously a very visual person and felt that by adding a personal touch such as a photograph (with our little dog Mollie!!) to the invite was a nice touch. I don’t really like awkward or too posed (deer in headlights!!) photography so we decided to go with a natural photo taken in union wood walking our dog Mollie. We have walked Mollie there ever since she was a little pup and union wood is place that we both love to go for fresh air and time out.

As our wedding was a Christmas wedding, I wanted to tie this into the invite in some way, without it being too cheesy or obvious.  I drew a simple little Christmas bauble shape and I knew that I wanted to place the wedding date inside this bauble. I love anything and everything handmade so when Claire suggested adding ribbon or twine to the top of the bauble and a simple little tag to print our guest’s names on I was sold! She also showed me this beautiful sparkly rose gold sleeve to slide the invites into. Being a bit of a magpie at heart I fell in love with it. It tied in nicely with the colour scheme idea that I had in mind, although our wedding colour scheme was not ‘matchy matchy’ in the slightest. I had always loved the idea of something completely different for a wedding invite’s.  In the past a special friend, Louise, hand delivered a message in a glass bottle (a scroll) with sand and shells for her amazing wedding in Nerja which was really unique and something I had never received be fore. Another friend’s invitation was two flight tickets and passport style invites for their wedding’s abroad.  I love originality and unique ideas and I thought I would have designed something really quirky but when it came to it I loved the simplicity of the design that Claire and I came up with.

After the initial design discussion, we made an appointment to visit their gorgeous studio in Ramelton where we could chat a bit more about ideas, styles and have a look at materials that we could possibly use and we took it from there to create our invitation’s. Eventful then made up a wide range of samples and styles so that Rory and I had a chance to pick and choose what we liked and so we could narrow down the design and finalize it. I have to say Clare and Roy were amazing to work with. We discussed everything from font style, layout, materials and spacing. Roy and Claire were extremely patient, creative and helpful in bringing my vision for our wedding invitation’s to life. I was so impressed with how they grasped my idea straight away and brought it from my imagination to make it a reality. Our invite is EXACTLY how I had imagined it would be and I could not be happier with the final result.

Eventful also designed and created our ceremony leaflets, which we were also very happy with. Keep reading to see a few images of what they look like as well as our wedding invite.

Here I am after picking up our finished invitations.  Even little Mollie looks happy!!

A cute touch – Claire gave us some cupcakes from Carmels Cakes in Ramelton when we picked up our invites! So thoughtful and a nice surprise. She does this for all of her clients.

Images of our Invites:

Eventful had included these little Z heart R stickers that we used to seal the invitation envelopes (which eventful supplies along with our invites). I had not asked for this so I was delighted to see that they had included them in with the invites when I collected everything. This adds a nice extra finishing touch.

Our Ceremony Leaflets…..

For our ceremony leaflet, I wanted something VERY very simple and that I would not have to include too much information in.  Let’s face it, you spend so much time gathering all of the information, prayers, readings etc and some people do not even pick one up or look at it.  Each to their own but we decided to keep it simple and go for a flat A5 size two sized leaflet.  Photographer Darek Novak from Sligo, had taken some lovely engagement photographs for us and I had mentioned to him that I wanted to use some of the photos in our invites and ceremony leaflets.  I included some draped fairy lights to give it a festive feel and at the back of the ceremony leaflet I added in some very basic information about our ceremony such as our bridal party, readers and prayer of faithful names and so on. Again, for us keeping things simple was key.

So there you have it, a little look at our wedding invitation’s and ceremony leaflet’s created by the amazing EVENTFUL in Ramelton, Co.Donegal.  I would like to take this opportunity to wish Claire and Roy the best of luck in the Irish Wedding awards 2018.  They really were a pleasure to deal with and I will definitely be going back to them for future stationary needs.
